There is something quietly radical about taking a chain — one of jewellery's most ancient and structural elements — and asking it to become something else entirely.
That is the question at the heart of my Soft Chains collection.
The Idea of Transformation
Chains carry weight, both literally and symbolically. They speak of strength, of connection, of precision. Every link is a decision, a repetition, a rhythm. And yet, when you weave them — when you layer, interlace, and coax them into new formations — something unexpected happens. The rigidity softens. The metal begins to move like fabric.
This is the transformation I set out to explore: what happens when a chain stops being a chain and starts being a textile?
The result is a series of handwoven pieces that feel understated and tactile, architectural yet wearable. Pieces that sit against the skin with a quiet confidence — not demanding attention, but rewarding it.
Softness and Structure, in Conversation
Every piece in the Soft Chains collection lives at the intersection of two forces that are usually considered opposites.
Structure gives the work its integrity — the precise interlacing of links, the geometry of each weave pattern, the discipline of repetition.
Softness gives it life — the way a woven bracelet drapes over the wrist, the way light catches a fluid necklace as it moves, the warmth of a piece that feels handmade because it is.
Neither quality dominates. They negotiate.
A Closer Look at the Collection
Woven Gold Silver Chain Bracelet
One of the foundational pieces of the collection. Two metals, one weave — the interplay of gold and silver tones creates a warmth that feels both timeless and contemporary.
Woven Red Chain Bracelet
A bolder statement. The red thread woven through the chain introduces colour as a structural element — not decoration, but architecture.
Woven Gold Chain Bracelet — Amethyst
Amethyst meets gold in a piece that balances mineral richness with the lightness of the woven form. Quiet luxury at its most tactile.
Woven Silver Chain Bracelet
Pure silver, pure intention. The monochrome palette lets the weave speak for itself — every interlaced link a small act of craft.
Knot Silver Chain Necklace
The collection's only necklace — and a study in controlled tension. The knot is both decorative and structural, a moment where the chain folds back on itself and becomes something new.
Small Pearls Chain Bracelet
Pearls introduce an organic softness to the metal weave — a reminder that the most interesting conversations happen between unlike things.
Lapislazuli Chain Bracelet
Deep blue lapis lazuli set within a woven chain — ancient stone, contemporary form. A piece that carries history lightly.
On Making
Each piece in the Soft Chains collection is made by hand, one link at a time. There is no shortcut to the weave — it requires patience, repetition, and a willingness to let the material guide the process.
This is what I find most compelling about working with chains: they resist improvisation. Every decision is visible. Every link either works or it doesn't. And yet, within that constraint, there is enormous freedom — in the choice of materials, in the rhythm of the weave, in the moment you decide to stop.
The result is jewellery that is precise and personal in equal measure.
