Welcome to Vasiliki's world
Allow me to take you back to the beginning, where my love for crafting first took root and eventually shaped the philosophy behind my business, Asimico.
I grew up in a home where creativity wasn’t just encouraged—it was a way of life. My mother’s craft room was her sanctuary, a place filled with yarns, beads, threads, and endless possibilities. I spent hours by her side, watching, learning, and eventually carving out my own creative space. That room became my playground, where mistakes weren’t failures but opportunities to create something new. It was in that small, vibrant corner that my passion for crafting, especially jewelry making, first blossomed.
As a young girl, I was fascinated by the process of transforming simple materials into something beautiful and meaningful. Jewelry making quickly became my obsession. I would spend hours experimenting with different materials, playing with colors and textures, and learning new techniques. Each piece I created felt like an extension of myself, a reflection of my curiosity and love for crafting. My friends and family encouraged me, and I began selling my pieces, realizing that this passion had the potential to connect with others on a deeper level.
Over time, I decided to turn my passion into something more. That’s when the idea for a business began to take shape. I launched my first collection on the sun-kissed island of Santorini, where the beauty of the beaches and the serenity of the waves inspired each design. Starting small, I created custom pieces for boutiques building a loyal customer base along the way. The magic of Santorini infused my work, and it felt like I had found my rhythm.
However, life soon presented me with an exciting new chapter. When I moved to Zurich, it was a significant shift from the sun-soaked beauty of Santorini, but it brought fresh opportunities and inspiration. Zurich, with its crisp air and vibrant culture, opened my eyes to new trends and possibilities. The change invigorated my creativity in unexpected ways, and I embraced it fully. I quickly set up a new workspace and reimagined my designs, integrating the unique essence of this new environment into my work. This transition became a pivotal moment in my journey, sparking new ideas and pushing my business forward in a beautiful new direction.
And that’s how Asimico was born. The name comes from the Greek word "Asimono," a tradition of gifting something golden—a lucky charm—when a baby is born, symbolizing a life filled with prosperity and good fortune. This deeply resonates with me because my jewelry pieces are more than just accessories. They are symbols of connection, tradition, and the magic of new beginnings. Each piece reflects my journey—from my mother’s craft room to the sunlit beaches of Santorini, and now, to the elegant streets of Zurich.
Today, I continue to find joy and fulfillment in creating jewelry that brings happiness to others. But the most rewarding part of this journey has been sharing it with my daughter. Watching her discover her own love for crafting, just as I did with my mother, fills me with a sense of continuity and joy. The process of creation—whether it’s a bracelet or a moment shared—has become a family legacy, one that I’m proud to pass down.
At Asimico, we celebrate creativity, connection, and the joy of crafting something beautiful together. Every piece tells a story, carries a bit of tradition, and represents the magic of new beginnings.
